LESSON 02 – MAKING SELECTIONS

QUESTION 1 – PHOTO

Take a photo of somebody or yourself (with their consent).  Make sure you get the entire body (don’t cut off the feet).

Try to have them pose or do something different.  Make sure the photo is not blurry.

QUESTION 2 – CUT-OUT 1

Using the selection tools, remove everything but the person in the your photo from Question 1.  Your mark will depend on the difficulty and quality of the work.  Save your work in both PSD & JPG formats.

QUESTION 3 – CUT OUT 2

Take a photo of an object or find an interesting photo with an object online.  The object should have curves in it.

Cut the object out.  Use a drop shadow on the object.

QUESTION 4 – CUT-OUT 3

For this question, you will cut out an object that contains only straight edges (such as a table or box).  You will make use of the Polygon Lasso Tool to make sure that the selection also contains only straight edges.  Strangely, it is more important to have straight lines than it is to keep the entire object.  Save your work in both PSD & JPG formats.

Example of Mr. Campeau’s Key Holder

(You do not need to combine two pictures like the example below does.  You only need to do one.)
