LESSON 14 – ONLINE TEMPLATES

The internet contains many freely available website templates. You can simply download them to your computer, open them in a website editor (Notepad, DreamWeaver, …) and start making changes to these sites.

These sites are usually quite well designed. Some of them are in fact simply spectacular.

While online templates provide us with an easy way to create a website, they do have their drawbacks.

PROS

· Free and very easy to acquire

· Beautiful designs

· Complex coding done for you

· Many templates to choose from

· Allow us to get excellent ideas from others work

CONS

· Might have to pay to get full rights or show a disclaimer

· Not your work

· Another person or organization can use the same template

· Code might be difficult to change

· You don’t learn much by using them

· Web Design competitions do not allow for their use
