THEORY – PHOTOGRAPHY COMPOSITION II
INTRO
- You will take some time to research different
“rules” of photography. Remember,
these rules are just ideas. They
do not always apply. And in fact,
sometimes they are bad ideas.
Some even contradict each other.
But the more “rules” you know, the more tools you will have when
taking photos and when describing your photos.
TASK 0 – GOOGLE SLIDE
Start a new
Google Slide doc. Name it
PhotographyComposition2.
TASK 1 – BROWSING
COMPOSITION RULES SITES
Do a search
for Photography Rules. You will find plenty of sites sharing a
wide assortment of rules. Browse five
or six sites paying particular attention to the first five or so rules on
each site.
On your first
slide to titled “Key Rules”, list the five (or so) rules that you think are
the most important. You only need to
include their names (unless you need help remembering what they are).

TASK 2 – USEFUL RULES
You now need
to list at least 5 other rules that you think are useful to you. Note that there are some rules that I find
I would never use. It is up to you to
decide what you like.
For each of
these 5 rules, create a slide that includes:
- Rule title
- Rule description (in your own words)
- Image (found on the internet) of the rule in action
- Source(s) of rule information and image
Note: It is
easy to find one site and simply use all their rules. But it is much more beneficial to you if
you visit multiple sites and pick and choose the rules and
explanations/photos that you like best.
TASK 3 – OTHER RULES
On a final
slide, simply list other rules that you have come across. You might get only a few extras.
TASK 4 – MAKE IT NICE
Add a title
slide. Add a background to your
slides. Make sure everything is well
organized.
