LESSON 05 –
INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP
INTRODUCTION
Photoshop
is the industry standard in photo and graphic editing. It is so well known around the world that
people use the word “photoshop” as a verb meaning “altered a photo”. Here are a few neat (or crazy) alterations
done with photoshop.
Photoshop
has many tools that are fairly consistent with all graphics programs. You will see that you recognize many of
them. For each tool, you will find an
option bar at the top that will allow you to configure the tool.
SELECTION
TOOLS
One
aspect of Photoshop that you must get use to is making accurate
selections. Using the multiple selection
tools and their options, you will be able to select around full people or other
complex objects. This in turn will allow
you to apply effects (filters) to very specific parts of your images.
Options
Each
selection tool has a set of options.
These options allow you to make a new selection, add to a selection and
even remove from a selection. Mastering
these options is very important.
Important shortcut keys
·
CTRL-D
– Deselect. This will get rid of any
selections.
·
CTRL-I
– Inverse selection. This will switch
your selection to its opposite. So if
you have a circle selected, you now have everything else selected so it would
look like a square donut.
LEARNING
PHOTOSHOP
Now that you have worked with two
graphic editors, learning photoshop should be fairly easy. There are few new concepts that you need to
be concerned about.
Your learning of Photoshop will occur
through the completion of MiniTasks. The
purpose of these MiniTasks will be to force you to use all the important tools
in PS.
