Real Head, Fake Body Sample
Here are the steps followed
in creating the Read Head, Fake Body sample.
Of course, you might be able to skip many of these steps. Or, you might have to include other steps in
order to complete your work.
STEP 1 –
FINDING IMAGES (20 minutes)
This step is very important
and not as easy as it looks. There are
three key objectives:
I have chosen to work with
Bart Simpson and Albert Einstein. They
are opposites in ways and I feel that the final product might be funny.
Here are the images I have
chosen to work with:

STEP 2 –
BODY’S BACKGROUND (25 minutes)
The head is on a black
background. Instead of cutting around
the head with great detail, I have decided to make the background around Bart
Simpson black. This is long and tedious
work but it’ll be worth it in the end.
Here is the result of this
work:
STEP 3 – CUT
OUT HEAD (15 minutes)
I now cut around Albert
Einstein’s head to remove all objects around him. One problem that I noticed was that the hair on the right side
would look a little strange. If I had
more time, I would work with this but for this project, this will have to do.
Result of this step:
STEP 4 –
MERGING THE TWO IMAGES (5 minutes)
I now copied the head and
pasted it into the body image. By
setting the background to black, the head’s frame is not visible. I had to resize several times to get the
desired head to body ratio. I was happy
to leave the head a little bigger than it would be.
Result of this step:
STEP 5 – HAND
TO FRONT (10 minutes)
The previous step lead us to
having the head in front of the hand and slingshot. I therefore reselected the hand and slingshot area from the original
Simpson picture and brought that into the picture.
Selection of hand and
slingshot:

STEP 6 –
TOUCH UPS (10 minutes)
I now worked on minor touch
ups. I also relocated the header and
the text bubble. The header was changed
from “Underachiever” to “Overachiever”.
Result of this step:
STEP 7 –
GRAYSCALE (1 minute)
I new when I started that
the colour of the cartoon might look funny with the black and white head of
Einstein. I therefore switched the
image from colour to grayscale. This
was done using photoshop. (Many
programs can do this but Paint cannot.)
