OPTIONS

 

Here are some ideas that might help you decide on a project.

 

 

GENERAL IDEAS

 

VIDEO PRODUCTION


Plan, record and edit your own video production.  You can choose the type of video you wish to create. Common projects include a PSA, a movie trailer, a short film, a music video and a documentary.

 

ANIMATION

 

Plan and create your very own animation using the software of your choice.  Of course, Flash is available in the computer lab.  But there are many other software programs that are emerging relating to animation.  You might also wish to consider doing a 3D animation in Blender or Maya.

 

WEB DESIGN


Plan and create a website related to a topic of your choice.  This project is usually more valuable when the website is for a real company that you are providing a service for.  While you are permitted to invent a company, nothing replaces real-world experiences.

 

GRAPHICS DESIGN

 

Create a logo, poster or brochure to advertise or inform people about an event or institution.  You are strongly encouraged to work with a real-world event or institution.

You can also take this a step further and come up with a marketing plan for a business.  Or perhaps you prefer build a portfolio for yourself.

 

VIDEO GAME DESIGN


Create a simple video game such as Space Invaders using a software such as GameMaker, RPG Maker or Unity.

PHOTOGRAPHY

 

Create a project based on your photography.  You might take several photos and manipulate them in Photoshop.  Or you might take photos that are used for a stop motion animation.

 

MODELING


Create a 3D model of an object or character using a software such as Sculptris.  You can also use Blender if you want even more options including animation tools.

 

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

 

Research and document a new technology related to our course.  This may be a programming language, a new software or perhaps simply a new technique or method to achieve a task.  You might learn Python or PHP.  You might install a computer system.  You might learn how to stitch many photos together.  There are far too many possibilities to mention them all here.
