ASSIGNMENT – ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIETAL IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY

In this assignment, you will reflect on how technology is always impacting our world. This includes the impact of technology on both our society and the environment.

TASK 1 – LIST OF IMPACTS

Do an internet search for “impact of technology on society”. Also do a search for “impact of technology on the environment”.

You will find many different articles and other resources. Take some time to go through the resources you find.

Use point form to list out the different impacts that you find listed. Include either a (PRO) or a (CON) at the end of each point.

Your goal is to find at least 8 different points (4 PROs and 4 CONs).

For each of the negative impacts you have found in the previous task (CON), explain how different groups and governments are hoping to resolve the issue. What do you think is the solution?

TASK 3 – TECHNOLOGY OR NO TECHNOLOGY

a) Would humanity be better off with limited technology?

b) Should we continue to move ahead to a digital world? Should we try to halt and keep the current level of technology? Or perhaps we should revert to a simpler time without so much technology in our lives? What is your opinion?
