MATCH DESCRIPTION A match
will last 120 seconds. During this
time, your team of drivers will use your robot to move as many cones from the
cone zones to the return zone. You
must switch drivers at the halfway point. MAP The following will be the approximate map for the competition. There will be three cone zones that are at
specified distances. There may be a
few obstacles placed between cone zones and the return zone. CONE ZONE The
following is three different views of a cone zone. Each cone zone contains 6 cones in
total. One cone is straight-up on its
own, three cones are stacked, and the other two cones are placed fallen over
with their tops touching.
RETURN ZONE The
following is three views of the return zone.
It will be placed against a wall.
Your goal is to return as many cones as possible to the return zone.
QUEEN ZONE The queen
zone is 17in x 17in in size (inside of the tape). It starts empty. Your goal is to place a single cone inside
the zone to get points.
Your robot
will start with at least two wheels in the return zone. SCORING You will
receive 1 point for every cone that is fully in the return zone. Cones are allowed to be on the perimeter
line but not allowed to stick out past the line. You will
receive an extra 2 points for each cone that is on the elevated
platform. Cones on the elevated
platform cannot touch the ground or be propped up by other cones that are
touching the ground to be considered on the platform. Cones that are fully on the platform are
permitted to stick out past the platform. You will
also receive 1 point for each cleared cone zone. That is, a cone zone that has no cones
inside or even touching the perimeter line. You will
get 3 points for a cone that is in the cone zone. If the cone is not touching any tape, then
it will be worth 5 points instead of 3.
Note that you only get points for one cone, so stacked cones will not
be worth more than a single cone. ATTEMPTS Each robot
will be given two attempts. Your team
should use four different drivers for these attempts. The attempt
with the best score will be counted. The
attempts do not need to be back-to-back.
This allows teams to do one attempt, then make minor alterations
before doing another attempt. RULES You may not
touch your robot during the competition.
If something becomes unplugged or disconnected, you will not be able
to plug it back in or reconnect it. So
make sure things are secure. PRACTICE You want to
practice on the playing field. You
need to have a strategy. Should you go
for all the cone zones or just go for one and try to move those cones to the
top level. Note that if the first
driver moves all or most of the cones to the low return zone, it is
challenging for the second driver to improve on that messy situation. SCOREBOARD The
scoreboard that will be used on competition day can be seen here. TOP SINGLE-RUN SCORES 2022 – Team
