PROJECT 03 – CAPACITOR
OVERVIEW
A capacitor
is simply a device that stores an electric charge.
ORIENTATION
Capacitors
generally have a shorter leg which, like the LED, specifies the negative
side. Large enough capacitors also tend
to have a “minus” symbol above the negative leg.
BASIC CIRCUIT
Below
is a basic circuit that shows a capacitor in action. You can simply use a wire instead of a switch
if you prefer. Also, you can use
different capacitors to see the effect of different capacitances.
PARALLEL & SERIES
Try
these out as well and observe what happens.
PROJECT EXPECTATIONS
You
should create all three circuits. You
should show Mr. Campeau one of them and be ready to answer what happens when
capacitors are in parallel and in series.
(You can search online as well for an answer.)
