INKSCAPE FAQ

Q: What is the difference between an object and a path in Inkscape?

A:

A path is one of several types of objects in Inkscape.

Inkscape has several types of objects including:

·        Circle

·        Rectangle

·        Polygon/Star

·        Text

·        Path

Paths are special as all other types of objects can be converted to a path.

One can tell the type of object for a shape by double clicking in with the arrow tool.  That shape will immediately go into object mode and will switch your active tool to the tool that corresponds to the object type.
