COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY 11 & 12

 

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Students will develop skills related to photo manipulation and graphic editing.  They will use an assortment of software including Paint.net and Photoshop as well as explore other utilities.  Students will also develop vector graphic designs using Inkscape.  Products will include logo, billboard & newspaper ad and poster designs as well as a variety of photo manipulations and graphic art.

WEB DESIGN

Students will learn web design by using basic html tags in order to how to create web pages from the ground up.  The structure of the world wide web will be explained and you will be taught networking terms such as ISP, DNS and router.  Students will then be asked to plan, design and implement a web page for a business.  Grade 12 students will also be exposed to CSS and will be given the opportunity to look at JavaScript.

 


ANIMATION


Students learn basic principles of 2D animation using Flash.  You will create several small products before moving on to a 25 second animation.  Students also have the option of pursuing 3D animation using Blender.

 

 

VIDEO & AUDIO PRODUCTION

 

Students will experiment with different video and audio production concepts such as composition, types of shots, camera angles and lighting before creating a final video product.  This project is chosen by the student and can vary from a music video to a documentary.

 


VIDEO GAME DESIGN

Students will plan and create video games using industry software such as GameMaker or Unity.  This will involve the creation of all media files as well as the design and programming of the game.  Students generally start with a few simpler games such as Pong and Pacman before creating their own custom game.
