GENERAL INFORMATION

Lockerby ICT is a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). It was approved in 2018 and became Lockerby’s 3^rd SHSM program after Mining and Health & Wellness.

This program provides interested students with an opportunity to specialize their studies in a branch of Information and Communications Technology whether it be in computer programming, game development, robotics, video production, animation, web design, graphics design or a little bit of everything.

Students will get the opportunity to meet industry professionals and post-secondary professors. They will attend field trips to various institutions and facilities. They will earn certifications including CPR, First Aid and WHMIS at no cost. And most importantly, students will have fun all while learning!

All SHSM programs are recognized by Ontario’s Ministry of Education. Students that complete the program will earn a red seal on their diploma. To complete the program, students must take a bundle of related courses (4 core courses), complete a 2-credit COOP placement and participate in certification and enrichment sessions planned for them throughout the school year.

Students interested in this program should contact Mr. Campeau as soon as possible. While official registration occurs during course selection in grade 10, there may be early opportunities available if Mr. Campeau is aware of a student’s intentions to join the program.
