PROGRAM COMPLETION REQUIREMENTS

Here is a list of requirements that students must complete in order to successfully complete the ICT SHSM:

 

MAJOR COURSES

Students must complete any four of the following major courses with the following conditions:

·       at least two courses are Core Major Courses (computing courses)

·       at least 1 must be a grade 12 course.

TDJ 4M – Technological Design 12

TDV 3M – Interior Design 11

SPH 3U – Physics 11U

OTHER COURSES


Three other courses are also required:

 

·       Any grade 11 or 12 Math course

·       Any grade 11 or 12 English course

·       Any grade 11 or 12 Science, Art or Business course

CO-OP PLACEMENT

 

Students must complete a 2-credit co-op placement.  Because it is so difficult to fit a co-op placement into a regular time table, students are highly encouraged to consider summer co-op immediately after their grade 10 year.

 

Most students who have a part time job are able to earn their CO-OP credits at their workplace allowing them to earn money at the same time.

SIX CERTIFICATIONS

 

Students will need to complete six certifications including CPR, First Aid and WHMIS. 

All certifications take place during the school day and are free.

Students will be informed of certification days well in advance.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES


Students will take part in field trips to ICT facilities.  Most trips will take place during the day.

 

REACH AHEAD OPPORTUNITIES

Students will visit ICT educational institutions and have access to students and professors/instructors.

 

SECTOR PARTNERED ACTIVITY

Students will create a real-world project with some guidance from sector professionals.  This will be done during one of our courses.
