OPEN PROJECT
(This page is still under construction.)

DESCRIPTION

This project will allow you to focus on one or more topics of interest to you.  The topics must of course be related to our course.  Your mark will be based on your daily work, your presentation (discussion) to your teacher and any submitted documents.

GOAL

The goal of this project is to provide you time to learn about or work with a topic that you enjoy all while keeping stress levels low.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

·      Journal

·      Presentation to teacher (discussion)

·      Product (if applicable)

PRODUCT-BASED

You will use a technology to create a product.

See specific examples for your specific course:

          ICS3U / ICS4U

TEJ 2O

          TGJ 3M / TGJ 4M

LEARNING-BASED

You will learn about a technology.

See specific examples for your specific course:

ICS3U / ICS4U

TEJ 2O

          TGJ 3M / TGJ 4M

MASH-UP

You can mix up a few small projects to make-up a larger project.  So you can do three different learning-based projects if you’d like.  Or perhaps you will start with a learning-based project and then use that technology to create a product.

JOURNAL EXPECTATIONS

Your journal needs to be separated into blocks that are about 60 to 80 minutes long.  For double periods (that we have used during the pandemic), you can use something like this:

DAY 1 – JANUARY 20, 2022 (FIRST HALF)

Topic: Examining Computer Simulation
Topic explanation: I have always enjoyed computer simulation work and examples.  I even force my students to create their own game of life simulation!
J  So I will explore other simulation software and videos.

Work:

·       I stumbled across and interesting simulation series about Evolution.  It is a nine video series demonstrating Evolution using Computer Simulation.

·       Click here for the link.

·       Thoughts: Excellent series.  Very interesting.  I would love to create a software program like that one day.

·       The same YouTuber has created other simulation videos to teach other concepts relating to economics.

DAY 1 – JANUARY 20, 2020 (SECOND HALF)

Topic: Learning JavaScript
Topic explanation: I am switching topics to change things up.  Plus I have always wanted to master JavaScript.

Work:

·       I have worked over the pages of W3 School’s JavaScript tutorial.

·       Link: https://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp

·       Thoughts: I enjoyed learning about JavaScript but I still don’t know how to do this away from the website.

·       I will need to continue this tomorrow.
