CAMPEAU’S BRIEF EXAM OVERVIEW

IMPORTANT NOTE

The following information is subject to change from one year to another.  Students are very much encouraged to verify the information below on the official AP site (links on previous page).

GENERAL INFO

The exam is 3 hours long.  It is separated into two sections.

Section 1 – Multiple Choice Questions

          Questions: 40

          Duration: 90 minutes

          Marks: 40

Section 2 – Free Response Questions

          Questions: 4 (with multiple parts)

          Duration: 90 minutes

          Marks: 40

PRACTICE MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS

  • The MC questions are challenging.  You absolutely need to practice some to get a good feel for them.

  • It is common for a MC question to take up an entire page because you need to analyze code.

  • Unfortunately, multiple choice questions from past exams are not released publicly.

  • See Mr. Campeau’s page on Exam Practice - Multiple Choice for more details.

PRACTICE FREE RESPONSE QUESTIONS

  • In the Free Response questions, you will write code as well as answer questions about the code.

  • It is important that you practice to write your code on paper.

  • If you are permitted to use an IDE (permitted during the pandemic), you need to be aware that you will not have all the code for a program.  So the IDE will show many errors in your code (as some files will not be there).  Your IDE could actually slow you down.  You need to practice this.
